August Sage and Violet is a floral design Studio based in New York City.  Branded in the summer of 2011, we embrace the the philosophy that flowers have a power to engage the senses and transform spaces, here, we consistently work to create Highly Curated, Passionate and Eclectic Design through the poetics and nuances of florals.

A New York native, founder and creative director, Rhonda Smith, branded August Sage and Violet in the summer of 2011 drawing inspiration and strength from her Caribbean roots and two decades of honing her craft and engaging floral design as an artistic form. Rhonda's formal study of the visual arts adds an artistic and transformative nature to her design and collaborations.

But it is the generations of family history in floral design that truly sets Rhonda apart, with each arrangement weaving together a rich tapestry of tradition. At August Sage and Violet, we are proud to offer the unique blend of passion, expertise, and creativity that Rhonda brings to every vision.

Through the Years

2003 — Rhonda lands her first floral design job in New York City at an event and wedding company after growing up in her mom’s flower shop in the suburbs of New York City.

2008 — After five years working part time as a freelance floral designer in New York City, Rhonda graduates from college after majoring in the visual arts and decides to start her first solo flower entrepreneurial endeavor as ‘Blush Designs NYC’ in a small Chelsea Manhattan studio. .

2011 — After three years, Blush Designs NYC is reimagined as August Sage and Violet dedicated to designing creative and uniquely envisioned weddings for aesthetically forward reaching wedding couples.

2021 — studio C L O U D S is born out of a desire to create a brand centered around creative collaboration, design concepts and an array of specialized events.
